Application letter

9/8/2026

Good morning, Hiring Manager,

Please consider my application for the ELA or substitute teaching position at Evergreen Chatter School in Hempstead, NY 11550. I began my teaching career in 1990 at Roosevelt Schools, NY, where I worked with special education students. Most of them were two or three grades behind their peers. I had to find creative ways to help them learn. I developed the Content and Strategy Centered Teaching and Learning (CSCTL) methods to make lessons more engaging. I focused on students’ interests, helping them relate lessons to their own lives and access learning resources. This approach allowed them to build their skills and understand the value of shared experiences. The students did well with this method.

I retired from teaching in 2014 but still have the passion and energy for teaching and helping children grow in their education. My last teaching job was with the NYC Board of Education. After leaving, I moved into educational research and continued developing CSCTL practices.

I kindly ask you to consider my application for the ELA or substitute teaching position at Evergreen Chatter School. I have attached my resume and teaching certification, along with a sample lesson plan using CSCTL methods.

I also have a special education teaching certificate for junior and senior high school levels issued by the New York City Board of Education. Please let me know if you would like me to submit this certificate.

Thank you for reviewing my application. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Martin Odudukudu
