When students enter the classroom, they engage in situational thinking, which may be spontaneous or deliberate, expressing a situational desire or interest. As learning activities progress, students shift back and forth between these possibilities, between spontaneous and deliberate thinking; some students fail to change or change well. This raises the question of how situational and/or learning activities must be structured so that students can transition well from spontaneous into deliberate thinking activities. and influences students’ knowledge development. Specifically, why do some students engage more attentively in lessons than others? In this course, participants will explore the phases of thinking that help students represent objects and how these objects of interest impact their thinking. Participants will also learn about spontaneous and situational thinking.
